| The
mission of Faith Baptist Church of Wauseon, Ohio can
be summarized with three W's - Witness,
Worship, and
Work.
The first part of
our church's mission is to be a Witness.
We are commissioned to preach the gospel to all
nations and peoples.
Matthew
28:18-20, And Jesus came
and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto
me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore,
and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name
of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have
commanded you: and lo, I am with you alway, even unto
the end of the world. Amen.
Mark 16:15,
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world,
and preach the gospel to every creature.
Our witness
concerning the gospel of Jesus Christ is very broad.
It is not only the message of Christ's death, burial,
and resurrection for sinners, but of the
"Doctrine of Christ" in its entirety.
We testify to God's holiness to man's sinfulness;
God's sending of his son to man's receiving him as
Lord and Savior; God's law all the way to man's
repentance; the Lord's finished work on Calvary all
the way to man's faith in that work for justification.
To summarize our
witness we would say, "All people are sinners and
fall short of God's holiness and demands.
Consequently all will die and go into eternal
punishment unless they are saved. The only way
salvation is secured is through repentance of sin and
faith in the Lord Jesus Christ." (Romans
3:23, 6:23, John 3:3, Acts 16:30-31, John 6:40)
The second
part of our mission is Worship.
This is just as important as the first part of our
mission in that it is by God's appointing that there
be a place where he would put his name and where his
people would come to worship him.
Ephesians
3:20-21, Now unto him
that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that
we ask or think, according to the power that worketh
in us, Unto him be glory in the church by
Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end.
Amen.
Ephesians
5:25-27, Husbands, love
your wives, even as Christ also loved the church,
and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify
and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
That he might present it to himself a glorious church,
not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing;
but that it should be holy and without blemish.
God has always had a
special place where he would be worshipped. In
the Old Testament we see altars, the Tabernacle, and
the Temple. In this present age we find the
Lord's New Testament Baptist Church. Faith
Baptist Church meets regularly to worship the Lord in
Spirit and in Truth (John 4:23-24). We sing the
great old Hymns, pray, praise, give thanks, and hear
God's Holy Word preached.
The third (and
equally important) function Faith Baptist Church
carries out is found in the word, Work.
The work of a Baptist church is many fold. We
labor in guarding and administering the ordinance of
Baptism - Baptizing only the saved by immersion under
the authority of our church and into membership of our
church.
Matthew
28:19, Go ye therefore,
and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name
of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
We labor in
teaching, training, and discipling the saved in their
walk with Christ. This is plainly seen in the
last part of the church's commission.
Matthew
28:20, Teaching them
to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded
you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end
of the world. Amen.
We labor in the
contending for the faith once delivered. We have
a responsibility to defend and preserve the system of
doctrine that Christ gave to his first church and that
our forefathers labored to preserve through all these
ages since. We must, like them, stand for the
truth Christ gave us - at all costs.
Jude 3,
Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto
you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to
write unto you, and exhort you that ye should
earnestly contend for the faith which was once
delivered unto the saints.
II Timothy
3:16, All scripture
is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable
for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for
instruction in righteousness:
We labor in
preserving this church a lighthouse in this community
and world. We labor to preserve our duty to each
other in loving, caring, and helping one another.
We labor to preserve the blessing of fellowship we
have as a New Testament Baptist church. We labor
to be a help to our Brethren that are in the world.
We labor to be a help to our Sister churches that are
in this world. We labor for all those things
most precious and eternal. We labor because our
Lord has called us to labor in his vineyard and
because he is worthy of all glory (Colossians 1:18).
We labor because nothing worth having comes easily!
